The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has accused the State Independent Electoral commission (OGISIEC) under the leadership of Babatunde Osibodu of attempting to disenfranchise the party from having its right to participate in the forthcoming local government election.

The party members were led to the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Press Center, Oke-Ilewo on a peaceful protest to express displeasure over the alleged attempt to disenfranchise the party by OGISIEC.

In a statement issued by the chairman of the party, Alhaji Sikirulai Ogundele, the Ogun state Independence Electoral Commission (OGISIEC) “without any shad of doubt, is obviously acting a script as written by the rulling party, All Progressive Congress (APC) government whose determination was to avoid healthy political competition in the forthcoming local government election”.

The party also alleged that the chairman of Ogun State Independence Electoral Commission is comfortably in bed with the ruling APC government in the state not only to deliberately prevent the party from participating in the forthcoming local government election, but also to waste the scarce public fund.

“It is evident that, OGISIEC in collaboration with Governor Dapo Abiodun is on a mission to reduce Ogun state to a “One Party State” by shutting the leading opposition party in the state (Ogun) out of the election. Elective positions should be earned via electoral contest, therefore, Govt Dapo Abiodun should not dish out elective positions as meal ticket to his party members”, the statement added.

RazorTimes further reports that the party chairman has cleared air on issues relating to the oneness of the party in the State, saying the party is now working as one family, rancor free party.

“All interest groups within the party now operates in total harmony under the able leadership of Alh Dr Sikirulai Ogundele as he chairman which is a result of robust reconciliation which the party has just achieved through the Sen Bukola Saraki-led National reconciliation and strategy Committee”.

It also noted that, the National headquarters of the party and solicitor team, Ricky Tarfa & Co have sent all necessary documents and papers that are expected to guide OGISIEC from further progress in error. But to the surprise, OGISIEC out of its blantant insincerity chose to look away.
